Our Story

Isabelle Hunter & Co. was born from our founder, Alexandra Barnes’ seemingly endless search for luxurious, classic, and feminine fieldwear. She believes women who shoot deserve to wear timeless, elegant, and functional clothing both on and off the field, just as their male counterparts do. Our garments are the fruit of a slow-paced, mindful design process which harnesses the seasons for inspiration, and incorporates intentionality and beauty to stand the test of time.

Our collections of high-quality fieldwear effortlessly combine femininity and purpose. Classic designs tailored to flatter yet allow for the swing of a gun… seasonally appropriate fabrics that will stand the test of time with panache. Our garments should make you feel polished, poised, and ready for anything; we hope they will become the pieces you reach for time and time again. Like the coat that wears like a hug from an old friend, or the hat that’s in more photographs of you than you can count, IH stands for functional pieces that become wardrobe staples. And above all, they should bring you confidence as you don sophistication with every step.

We are so much more than fieldwear: a lifestyle, an experience, and a destination. We celebrate our inspiration, our adventures, and the things that make our hearts sing. Off the field, we treasure gathering around a table, honoring holidays, and living slowly. And we hope you love exploring our world as much as we’ve loved creating it.

Our Founder

Alexandra Barnes is an old soul living in a modern world. As a lover of the great outdoors, she was immersed in the shooting sports at a young age and received her first gun for Christmas just after turning four. She believes most women will love shooting if they’re only willing to give it a try, and created Isabelle Hunter & Co. in the hope that both community and style might welcome more women to the sport. Before her daughter was born, Alexandra was a photographer and writer by day, while diving into the world of fashion design by night. She enjoys a peaceful but active life in New England, shooting clays and wingshooting, renovating an old cottage in Vermont, and attempting to grow a viable vegetable garden. Her devoted husband Luke, and Great Pyrenees, Dorothy, bring her daily laughter and inspiration.
