From Late Summer to First Frost: How to Style SS25 Into Fall

The first cool mornings always seem to arrive quietly. One day you’re reaching for lightweight cotton, and the next you’re tucking a scarf into your collar before stepping out the door. It’s this subtle shift - from late summer into the first frosts of autumn - that makes transitional dressing one of my favorite moments of the year.

At Isabelle Hunter & Co., every piece is designed to move with you across seasons. Our SS25 collection, photographed most recently on a game day here in the British countryside, was created with layering in mind. Whether you’re in the field, in town, or simply walking the dogs, here are a few ways I’ll be styling these pieces in the months ahead.

1. The Greenbrier Vest

A year-round staple, but essential in September. I start with the vest over a light blouse on milder days, then layer with knitwear or a waxed jacket as the season deepens. It’s warmth without bulk, and a piece that adapts as quickly as the weather does.

2. The Charlotte Blouse

This blouse has been the quiet hero of summer - but autumn is where it really comes into its own. I’ll pair it with heavier skirts or tailored trousers, letting the delicate collar peek out beneath tweed or wool. It brings softness and femininity to more rugged layers.

3. The Field Skirt

Field days are never quite the same without a wool skirt. As the light changes, I like to ground the lighter hues of SS25 with darker boots and gloves. Add a cap or scarf, and suddenly the look feels entirely autumnal, even though the base is summer’s silhouette.

4. Scarves & Accessories

It’s often the smallest additions that make the most difference. Silk scarves in earthy tones, gloves slipped into a pocket, a cap you’ve worn for years - these are the finishing touches that carry a look seamlessly from one season to the next.

Dressing With Intention

For me, transitional dressing is about more than weather. It’s a reminder that what we wear shapes how we move through the world. As the season changes, I want to feel both prepared and elegant - and I believe women deserve clothes that give them both.
